Causing widespread confusion when it was first unveiled, new reports have revealed the 5.3-inch Samsung Galaxy Note as shipped 2m units to date

Having officially unveiled the Galaxy Note 10.1 at MWC 2012 earlier this week, Samsung has revealed that the tablet’s smartphone predecessor has got off to a reassuring start with the original Samsung Galaxy Note shipping 2 million units to date.

Splitting the public vote as to whether the device’s 5.3-inch form factor and S-Pen stylus saw it land within the smartphone or tablet camps, the Samsung Galaxy Note hit the UK late last year to a mixed reception.

Whilst Samsung has yet to offer a more detailed breakdown on the number of these shipped devices that have actually gone on to sell, the high stakes manufacturing figures offer a confident insight into the performance of the largely experimental handset.

Samsung Galaxy Note Specs

With a hearty £495 price tag the Samsung Galaxy Note is a true powerhouse of the smartphone market with a 1.4GHz dual-core processor featuring alongside an expansive 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED screen which boasts a magnificent 1280 x 800p resolution.

Running Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS the Samsung Galaxy Note packs an 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera with 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities and a second, 2-megapixel forward facing snapper.

Lining up at just 9.65mm thick the Samsung Galaxy Note plays host to the pressure sensitive Samsung S Pen stylus, storable within the handsets construct, which allows users to doodle away and make hand drawn notes at will.
