Ahead of the Apple iPad 3 release date announcement, claimed insider reports have suggested Apple will offer an all new iPad Smart Cover case

Just a day away from the official Apple iPad 3 release announcement, new reports have suggested Apple is to launch an all new iteration of the Smart Cover alongside its third-generation tablet.

Looking to rectify issues overlooked by the original magnetically connected Smart Cover for the iPad 2, the new iPad 3 bound protective layer is said to offer support for both the rear and side aspects of the market leading tablet as opposed to solely the screen on previous iterations.

Citing a “repeatedly reliable source,” Apple blog iLounge has suggested Apple’s iPad 3 Smart Cover will be “similar to Incase’s Magazine Jacket” and feature “a folding magnetized Smart Cover on the front, and a rear shell made from fiberglass covered with PU/bicast leather.”

The claimed informer was reportedly unable to specify as to whether the new Apple branded protective casing would be exclusive to an iPad 3 device 1mm thicker than its predecessor, on back compatible to work with the iPad 2.

Apple iPad 3 Rumours

Set to be officially unveiled this Wednesday, March 7th, the Apple iPad 3 is is expected to play host to a higher resolution screen, similar to the Retina display offering found on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.

"The new display is capable of greater resolution than the current iPad, with more pixels on its screen than some high- definition televisions," an unnamed insider source announced recently. "The pixels are small enough to make the images look like printed material. Videos begin playing almost instantly because of the additional graphics processing."

Elsewhere recent iPad 3 rumours have suggested the iPad 2 replacement will feature a form factor 1mm thicker than its predecessor with the increased internal space to be filled with the new display, an A6 quad-core CPU and improved optics for the rear-mounted camera.

Apple iPad 3 Price

Despite a number of rumours suggesting the expected inclusion of a 9.7-inch Retina display would see the market leading tablet follow-on land as much as $70 or $80 more than its predecessor, new leaks have claimed the iPad 3 price will follow directly in the footsteps of the iPad 2 with the same 16, 32 and 64GB Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi plus 3G options to remain.

Kicking off at $499 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model, the Apple iPad 3, which is set to be officially unveiled this Wednesday, March 7th, will continue to offer a competitive price in the increasingly competitive tablet market.
