With a steadily increasing array of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich handsets on offer, Google is rumoured to be working on Android Key Lime Pie

Ahead of the Android 5.0 Jelly Bean launch later this year, new reports have suggested the follow-on version of the Google branded OS will fall under the moniker of Android Key Lime Pie.

Citing “a reliable source” tech blog The Verge has suggested the future Android offering will be dubbed “Key Lime Pie” but has failed to offer any details around the operating systems number as to be it a full Android 6.0 refresh or incremental Android 5.5 update.

Suggesting a 2013 release for the American dessert branded operating system latest reports have suggested the ongoing and alphabetical sweet toothed naming of the iOS rivalling software is to continue for a number of years.

Despite Android Jelly Bean and Android Key Lime Pie already being baked up, the current iteration of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich handsets are just starting their rise to prominence with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus being followed by the likes of the HTC One X and the Huawei Ascend D.
